Bursa Malaysia started slightly higher today on a volatile note amid Wall Street's weaker performance overnight. At 9:05am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) added 1.05 points to 1,616.69 from Thursday's close of 1,615.64. The Index opened 0.21 of-a-point higher at 1,615.85.

FKLI Dec month ended lower on Thursday despite the positive performance of the underlying cash market. The spot month December 2024 contract fell 4.5 points to 1,614.0.

Turnover declined to 4,583 lots from 4,880 lots on Wednesday, while open interest trimmed to 36,998 contracts versus 37,157 previously.

Recommend Trading Plan:

Long positions may be opened if market retraced and supported firm above 1610.5 with targets at 1618/1625.5 and stop-loss at 1607.5.

Short positions may be opened if market failed to support above 1610.5 with targets at 1605/1601.5 and stop-loss at 1613.5



FCPO

FCPO Feb month contract closed higher due to concerns over weaker production caused by recent floods in Malaysia. At the close, the February 2025 added RM103 to RM5,135 per tonne. 

Trading volume declined to 83,156 lots from 119,811 lots yesterday, while open interest inched down to 235,695 contracts from 236,748 contracts previously.
