Wall Street dropped on Thursday, leaving the S&P 500 marginally lower for a year marked by record highs as well as a major selloff.
Shanghai stocks ended 2015 up nearly 10 percent, beating Wall Street and most other major markets, and shaking off a savage summer rout. On the data front, China's Caixin's manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) is due on Monday.

Market was visibly tired last Thursday before going into the long New Year's Day holiday. It will be important for market to hold above 1681 if it were to remains resilient. Otherwise, profit taking selling could kick in today.
